Off-Duty Deputy Request – Delaware County Sheriff's Office
Deputies employed by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office are available for off-duty assignments to provide additional law enforcement services for members of the public, businesses, and organizations. To request a deputy, please ensure that all requirements for hiring an officer are met prior to scheduling the assignment.
The following requirements have been established by the Sheriff's Office for the employment of off-duty deputies - Call: (563) 927-3135
Fingerprinting for employment purposes is done at the Delaware County Jail for a minimal fee. Please call (563) 927-3135 for available hours and additional information.
You can reach the Delaware County Sheriff's Office by calling (563) 927-3135. You may leave a message with the dispatcher or be transferred directly to the deputy’s voicemail.

A locksmith is your best alternative, however, if a child or pet is locked inside the vehicle or an emergency exists, the Sheriff's Office and/or Fire Department will respond. For any other situations, it is at the discretion of the Deputy.
See below for the definition of an abandoned vehicle. The Sheriff's Office can only have vehicles towed that are on public property, to remove vehicles from private property, call a tow service.
#4 321.89 Abandoned vehicles.
1. Definitions. As used in this section and sections 321.90 and 321.91 unless the context otherwise requires:
a. "Abandoned vehicle" means any of the following:
(1) A vehicle that has been left unattended on public property for more than twenty-four hours and lacks current registration plates or two or more wheels or other parts which renders the vehicle totally inoperable.
(2) A vehicle that has remained illegally on public property for more than twenty-four hours.
(3) A vehicle that has been unlawfully parked on private property or has been placed on private property without the consent of the owner or person in control of the property for more than twenty-four hours.
You may obtain your motor vehicle record for a fee of $11.00. You need to make this request in person, and you need to provide a current driver’s license.
